57th Japanese Speech Contest for Foreigners

Since the inaugural contest in 1960, the Japanese Speech Contest for Foreigners has been a project that the International Education Center hosts every year. Since 1996, the Contest has been jointly organized with the Japan Foundation, and from the 38th Contest in 1998 until the present, the contest has been held in cities all over Japan, and the organizers now include the host city.

Application period: February 1st to April 26th 2016


Applicants must fulfill all of the following conditions:

Their mother tongue must be a language other than Japanese
They must be of age 15 or above on the date of the contest
They must not have received the Foreign Minister’s Award or the Education Minister’s Award in a previous Contest.

How to apply:
Applicants must fill in the application form which can be downloaded from the International Education Center’s website, and send a storage media with a video of the speech. Please confirm the guidelines on the homepage for more details.
