There is a wide specter of collaboration activities in this area with several institutions involved in both countries. The Norway-Japan network “Kyoto International Forum for Energy and Environment” (KIFEE) plays an important role as marketplace and springboard for students, researchers and industry. The offshore wind related activities include both academia and industry in order to develop feasible implementation through proper stake holder management.

Examples of themes:

  • Renewable Energy, such as Photovoltaic, Ocean Energy including Offshore Wind
  • Energy Systems including Smart Grid, Energy Management
  • Power Electronics
  • Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies
  • Process Engineering/Energy Conversion including Heat Pumps
  • Energy Storage (materials related)
  • Electrolysis
  • Nuclear Power Safety, OECD Halden Reactor Project
  • Non-fossil based energy carrier systems
