Norway-Japan Marine Seminar 2012
In May 2012, a one-day marine seminar was held at Mirakan in Tokyo. The seminar was held collaborative by Innovation Norway, The Norwegian Seafood Council, The Japanese Fisheries Association, The Japan Science and Technology Agency, The Norwegian Embassy and The Norwegian Research Council.
The event gathered gathered 230 participants, including 36 speakers from Japan and Norway, where throughout the day parallel sessions were addressing key areas for sustainable utilization of marine resources. Presentations and discussions emphasized the leading role of Japan and Norway as marine nations. There was focus on the great potential for cooperation in many areas, ranging from development of technology for efficient fisheries and aquaculture, fisheries management and co-existence with marine energy production as well as seafood safety and quality throughout the value chain.
